Why Toilet Makes Noise After Flushing

why toilet makes noise after flushingHave you ever experienced hearing a loud sound right after you flush your toilet? Have you tried fixing the problem? In most cases, a loud sound that reverberates from the toilet results from restricted or uneven water flow. This may arise while the tank is refilling or while flushing as well. And though this kind of plumbing issue won’t affect your daily life or your routines, it is annoying just the same. Who would ever want to hear a foghorn every time the toilet is used, right? If you’ve been having a headache because of this issue, read on and find out how you can resolve it!

1. Carefully remove the lid of the toilet tank and take a look at the valve inside. Flush the toilet and wait if the valve will make the sound. While the noise is on, lift the toilet tank’s float ball all the way up and observe what happens. If the sound stops, there may be a worn out or loose washer in the ballcock mechanism.

2. What you need to do next is to find three screws that are supposedly situated at the top of the toilet tank fill valve. When you see them, check if the valve is sealed or not. If it’s sealed, here’s what you should do.

3. Turn off the water supply valve of the toilet tank. When you’re done, dissemble the toilet tank fill valve by removing the screws with your reliable screwdriver. Lift the ball as well as the armature and the flush valve out of the toilet tank.

4. Pry off the washer that’s found at the bottom of the valve. Replace it with a brand new washer that’s of the same size and type.

5. Reassemble the toilet tank fill valve and turn the water supply valve on. Let the tank fill with water and then flush it again.

6. If, on the other hand, the toilet fill valve is not sealed, simply replace the entire valve assembly or replace the washer. Again, shut the water supply valve off, flush the toilet and dry the tank.

7. Detach the water supply line from the toilet. Once you’re done, check the toilet fill valve locknut and loosen it. Remove the nut using a screwdriver and carefully lift the old valve out of the tank.

8. Install a new fill valve and adjust the fill level. Make sure that you’ll follow the instructions that are indicated on the new kit. Secure the locknut with its screw and tighten it with your pliers.

9. Reconnect the water supply valve to the toilet; turn the valve on and let the toilet tank fill with water. Adjust the tank’s float if necessary and set the water level an inch above the overflow tube. Flush the toilet to do a test.
